Winter Wonderland by Charley Harper
Yes indeed I ordered Christmas fabric. I think it’s beautiful, and I have high hopes of making a Christmas quilt this week. This one is for us to keep. I’m excited. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve started AND finished a quilt just for us.
Here’s the debate. I’ve considered making a star quilt for quite some time. I don’t have a star quilt in progress. (Just lots of other quilts in process, ahem.) BUT, if I make a star quilt, I know it will take longer. I likely won’t finish it this week. If I stick to just five or six inch squares, I could probably knock this out in a week.

Are you familiar with Charley Harper? Just think birds. He was a wildlife artist that died in 2007. I love some of his drawings. And, as homeschooling life in our home picks up pace, I must say that my appreciation for outdoor beauty is growing and growing.
The above print was my favorite when I first discovered his winter fabric online. This one is Good World featuring cardinals. The circles are rather large on this print. Their diameter is just shy of six inches. Be sure to take that into consideration if you are planning on cutting up the fabric.
While we peruse this fabric, let me take a minute to give a shout out to SewOrganicFabric on Etsy. I’ve never purchased from Teresa before. I was searching for the store with as many prints from the Winter Wonderland line as I could find.
First off, shortly after I ordered, Teresa messaged me via Etsy to let me know my order was a pre-order, and she also let me know that the fabric was expected to arrive the following Wednesday. She would ship my order on Thursday.
While I wasn’t expecting a personal message since the listing was a clearly a pre-order, I still appreciated her thoughtfulness.
Then, two days later, I received another message from her. She had received the fabric, and after taking a look at the circle print I mentioned above, she felt that the circles were bigger in person than expected from the listing pictures. She wanted to double check that I still wanted to purchase them.
Once again, not necessary, but this was so kind of Teresa. Customer service goes a LONG way with me. I highly recommend SewOrganicFabric on Etsy.
Unbelievably, the cardinals drew me in on this line. I’m not often drawn to red, but I appreciate it especially around Christmas time. The cardinals on the far left in the above picture is a reprint called Cardinal Stagger Reprint. It’s not from the Winter Wonderland line, but I thought it fit in appropriately with the Christmas prints.
The deer print above is a perfect blue to complement the reds found in this winter line.
And the birds. These birds are getting harder to find. The yellow warblers were almost out of stock when I purchased them. The purple finches are a bit out of my comfort zone, but I appreciate the variety.
There are a few other prints in the Winter Wonderland line that I skipped over and didn’t purchase. Be sure to check out other Charley Harper prints because they coordinate so well with this line even if they aren’t Christmas appropriate.
Check back in two weeks to see if this Christmas quilt gets finished for 2020 (or maybe Christmas of 2021)! 😉
