I made my firstborn his quilt a while ago. Then my third born really really wanted a quilt. So I made him a quilt. But my second born has never received a quilt. Despite a bit of confusion, he has now expressed his minimal concern over why he was skipped.

Motivation comes and goes, but when I stumbled upon Heather Ross’ new line, I had the best excuse to purchase it. My second born son is part farmer and other part cowboy. West Hill was perfect.

Since he was much more anxious than I was to cut into his fabric, I started it almost immediately with a pattern I already had on hand. I’m using the Skipping Squares pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew.

I purchased an entire fat quarter bundle of West Hill Fabric, but I plan to only use about half of it with this particular quilt. I’ll use all the boyish prints for my son, and I plan to mix in other miscellaneous patterns from my stash. I pulled out some gingham, stripes, solids, and checks, and I’ll save the pinks and purples for my daughter’s quilt.
Hopefully I’ll be back soon with a finished quilt top!
