I have mixed emotions about selling on Etsy sometimes, but I must acknowledge that they have some things figured out. They do have seller’s fees, but they also have algorithms that work in the seller’s favor.
My Etsy shop is tiny. Teensy tiny. I don’t know if I’ve ever had more than ten items in my shop at one time. I’ve barely capped 100 sales. My audience is small. Three pillows at one time is a big restock for me.
Last Sunday evening, I stocked four pillows in my Etsy Shop. I had pictures lined up to post on Instagram all week. Those pictures are essentially my sole form of advertising.
Etsy somehow knows the right feeds though. By Sunday, three of the four pillows had sold.
As a result, this post has morphed from an ‘advertisement for pillows’ to an ‘inspiration for pillows’ post. Since all but one of the pillows has now sold, I’ll leave you with a bit of inspiration. ๐
First off, triangle pillows are becoming my favorite…and a favorite of my followers. How ironic that this is the only pillow left from the ones I listed on Sunday.
Lemons. I picked this lemon fabric out a while ago, and I hoarded it for a bit. But since I just purchased the Brady Bunch repro print, I had to make room for more.
It’s all hand quilted. I’ve chatted many times over with my husband that I can’t build a successful business hand quilting all my products. But I must say, I have not grown weary on hand quilting…even when it’s going to someone else’s home. I love the process.
Farmer’s Attic on Etsy was all restocked a couple weeks ago when I needed some more DMC Pearl Thread. Fast shipping there. My favorite is size 8 in white.
The second pillow was simple patchwork. This pillow is basically my signature look. These are all favorites, very favorite fabrics, from a bit ago. I’ve had them sitting on my shelf for quite some time. If you scroll through my feed here, or my Instagram feed, or even my Etsy sales feed, you’ll see a few colors I continue to reappear. Pastels. Muted pinks and yellows and blues. They’re my soft spot. My comfort zone.
If those blue eyelashes were still in print, I’d have yardage of it on my shelf. They’re a long time favorite of mine.
And just because I think this Sunrise flannel is SO PRETTY, I made two purely flannel pillows. Single panel pillows with no patchwork.
The pillows are gone, but if you can sew, I think this flannel is great. I’d recommend it. It’s cozy. It holds shape. Good weight. Not to mention the COLORS. I bought mine at fabric.com. It looks like The Modern Quilter has a good bit left on Etsy too.
AND. Since I’m pretty proud of finally perfecting a mask (in my humble opinion), I have a few masks for sale in this cozy flannel.
(The only reason I can brag about making masks is because I had many very poor experiences making masks before something finally clicked. I really was quite humbled through the process. I sew all the time. ALL THE TIME. Yet I couldn’t sew a mask. True story.) The story has just gotten better now.
These masks are available in my Etsy Shop. ๐
