I think I’m going to start a new quilt. 😉
This was the year for finishing all my projects before starting a new one, but my New Year’s Resolutions are slowly dwindling away.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve definitely finished a good number of quilts, but none of them have been my works in progress that are now destined to be finished in five years.
I’m slowly plugging away at my Scrappy Trip Around the World, and while my Dresden Quilt is sitting again, I haven’t lost hope. I WILL finish it. Alas, I DID finish my son’s economy block quilt! And quilts for friends and customers are some of the best to make anyway.
Good thing I have this blog to keep my quilts organized.
Plus, someone recently commented on my post about my scrappy hexagon quilt. Good thing she reminded me that I still have that ten year project to finish too.
Can you relate?
I recently started following Rachelle on Instagram, and her quilts are so beautiful. Her hand quilting is such an inspiration. I’m so drawn to her quilts, and it’s a reminder to me that my absolute favorites are usually low volume quilts with a touch of a vintage feel. She has a small Etsy Shop with a few quilts for sale too.
She’s inspired me.
The below quilt is one of her quilts I’ve been eyeing.

I recently bought a few floral fabrics without a plan. Using Rachelle’s quilt as inspiration, I’m going to use them in a half square triangle quilt. I have a lot of yardage of Endless Paradise denim, and I will pair that with these florals.
(Perennial Printemps, Menagerie in mint, Luminous Field Printemps)
Picture some half square triangles in nine patch or sixteen patch groups rotating between the denim and mixed florals.
I’ll show you soon what I mean.
I’m think I’m also going to add a bit of Almafi Herb Garden fabric in natural. I think it would blend well with the other florals above.
I finished a farmhouse inspired half square triangle quilt for my mom for Christmas, and I still really like. It’s probably one of the most favorite of the ones I’ve made. I’m excited to have one for our own home.
Speaking of low volume fabrics and florals, I found two other floral fabrics from Bonnie Christine’s new line called Gathered for Art Gallery Fabrics. (I bought mine from Needle in a Fabric Stash.)
If you look at my Instagram feed, you see a lot of color. In my home, though, I don’t have a lot of color. You’ll find color for sure, but I lean lots toward neutrals and varying textures right now.
I think that’s what drew me to these Gathered fabrics. I’d like to make them into pillow for our living room. I want to pair them with a nice light gray linen type fabric.
With summer in full force here, florals are calling my name. Not only am I shopping hardware stores for clearance flowers for my yard, I’m shopping fabric stores for flowers too.
What are some of your favorite fabric lines for summer?
