I can’t decide, friends. I just can’t decide.
There is only so much time in a day to spend sewing, and I can’t make ALL the quilts my mind dreams up over the course of a day. I’ve been gawking at this Harriot Yarn Died plaid and this Harriot Yarn Died plaid for over a week now, but I haven’t purchased either. Yet I want to buy a yard of each. I’m sure they’d fit into many a perfect project.
BUT. There is this toil in my mind. I cycle through quilt bloggers and patchwork instagrammers each year. Some bring more inspiration than others for me. I’m stuck on two right now. And you know what? They are COMPLETELY different styles of quilters.
There’s Meghan from Then Came June. Her quilts are so fresh and lively and colorful and cheerful. I love them. I’ve been tempted to purchase her Meadowland Quilt Pattern many a times over. Her fabric combinations are so scrappy yet so cohesive all at the same time.
Then there’s Susan from Hopewood Home. I linked her Instragram account first because it’s so inspiring to me. Here’s her shop too: https://hopewoodhome.bigcartel.com/ but there aren’t near as many pictures. Her BIG and random patchwork is some of my favorite. Her fabrics are the loveliest selection. I am always taken aback by her combination of florals with just basics of plaid and stripes.
So now you understand why I can’t decide. I already have so many ideas and visions for quilts. I only have so much time. And I see the colors of Meghan’s quilts and think, ‘oh so bright and cheerful!’ And then I see Susan’s quilts and think, ‘oh so rich and textured.’ How do I choose which quilts to make? What fabrics do I buy?
Any other creative minds out there that understand the struggle?
At any rate, my next quilt to finish was inspired by Meghan. I started it quite a while ago. No surprise. I start lots of quilts and they get done years later. 🙂
I’m making a flying geese quilt inspired by this one Meghan made a while ago. I like her color palette and the scrappiness is right up my alley.
I started it a while ago, but then I saw Ruby Star Society announce a new fabric line called Darlings. Fabrics started making it to stores last November. Once I saw the different colored strawberries, I postponed the creating of flying geese and waited on the release of the new fabric.
You can see all my recent purchases fabric purchases above. The above fabrics will be combined with some of my favorites from below for a scrappy flying geese quilt. Maybe those plaids I mentioned at the top of the post would fit nicely with these. Plus a solid or two to coordinate. Hm. Sounds about right to me! 😉
It looks like this peachy strawberry fabric is still available! It’s one of my favorites currently.
So tell me. Who are some of your favorite quilters in the online world these days? There are so many great ones out there, and the inspiration is endless!
