A mini Quest for Blue Fabric

I posted a couple weeks, maybe months ago, about the sale at Janum Fabrics. At that point in time, I hadn’t purchased anything yet. If you’ve followed around here much, I didn’t buy much fabric in 2018. Maybe it was 2016 where I bought a LOT of fabric. In 2017, I re-learned how to quilt. In 2018, I felt like a quilter.

I don’t really know what 2019 holds. So far, I’m turning into a hand quilter. ๐Ÿ™‚

And, I’m quite content hand quilting. I may not be able to keep up with posts in 2019, though, if I continue hand quilting. Projects take a lot longer to finish when stitched by hand. But they’re also much prettier…at least in my eyes…for the time being.

Anyway. I’m not sure how much longer Majd will have fabric left in her shop, but I had eyed the above Sugar Berry Fabric multiple times, and I came up with a good excuse to purchase some.

I had sewn a scrappy log cabin pillow a couple weeks ago, and I didn’t have any half yards of blue fabric for the back of the pillow cover. Don’t worry, I have PLENTY of options outside the realm of blue, but I went searching for blue fabrics.

I found plenty to choose from.

I started with a bundle of Flower Sugar Very Berry Cherry fabric by Lecien. It seems like strawberries are showing up everywhere on quilting fabrics. I’m completely okay with that, and you’d know that if you looked at my fabric shelves.

There are a number of more prints that are part of this line. There is some pretty pink fabrics too! All of the ones left at Janum are linked here.

Then I migrated over to one of my very favorite shops: Sew Stitching Happy. I used to browse Cassie’s shop every day as part of nap time ritual. The boys would head to their rooms to rest, and I’d open the lap top to see if any new fabrics had been posted.

It was such fun for me to envision scrappy quilts for our home and scrappy covers for the shop. My eyes were always bigger than my time, though. It’s easy for me to buy more fabric than I have time to use. Can anyone else relate to this?

Anyway. I was still hunting for some good blue fabrics for the back of my scrappy log cabin pillow cover.

As expected, I didn’t have much trouble finding more blue fabrics. They arrived in my mailbox just a few short days later. Maybe it’s because we live in neighboring states, or maybe it’s Cassie’s excellent customer service, but her fabrics are always shipped immediately and arrive fast!

Cotton & Steel Sheep Panorama Blue

I first picked out these sweet sheep. It’s called Panorama Sheep by Cotton & Steel.

I seem to be sucked into strawberries these days. I’m not sure if it’s their vintage feel or what is the appeal to fruit on fabric, but I came away with MORE strawberry fabric.

Sugar Sack Berries by Whistler Studios

This is Sugar Sack by Whistler Studios. Cassie appears to be out but, I did find lots left on Fabric.com. There are many adorable prints in the Sugar Sack line. They seem to come with a vintage type flare.

And speaking of vintage and strawberries and fruit, I found one more blue print that found its way to my mailbox.

Vintage fruit fabric

Does that not look like a picnic blanket? This is called fruits on blue check, and it will be the perfect addition to the vintage inspired patchwork blanket that I’ll make someday…with all the vintage inspired fabric I’ll purchase someday…after I’ve finished all my other quilts…someday. ๐Ÿ˜‰
